Advertisements are a marketing tactic that boosts brand awareness and lead to consumer consumption. In today’s Digital Age, things have changed from the typical billboard you would see on the side of the road. It’s all about utilizing social media and the tools each platform has to offer. One to take into consideration is Facebook Ads. As easy as it seems to set up an ad campaign, there are ways to maximize utilization for success.

We’ve paired with our Social Advantage team to provide you with the six best tips for conducting Facebook ads.

Visual Stimulation. The importance of visual elements cannot be stressed enough. As the average attention span of individuals online gradually decreases, it’s vital to keep your message short and to the point. Make sure that the video or graphic you are using is also visually pleasing - busy photos and wordy text could deter potential consumers from spending time on your post.

With so many visual posts on Facebook, take time to strategize tactics that will make your brand stand out. If you don’t have high-quality photos, you can pull from Facebook’s stock photos or use websites Unsplash or Pexels. It’s all about stimulations to transform an ad into a loyal consumer.

Active Voice. Keep the viewer engaged. Make sure that the next steps for them to take is clear and user-friendly. Use an active voice throughout the post and be sure to include a call to action. Whether that be adding visual triggers like “Sign Up”, “Read More” or “Buy Now” these keywords can help close a sale. It also means more traffic to your website that wouldn’t have existed if the ad was not in place.

Know Your Budget. Although cheaper than the traditional forms of advertisements, running Facebook ads can quickly get expensive. Creating a monthly budget can help you stay on track and provide efficient results. It’s good to know that you can work around any budget since ads start at $1 and can go up to $5,000 per day.

Spread out your budget into different ad sets. There’s an option to conduct an ad group - where you can put all ads in one setting. As enticing as that sounds, it’s suggested to use multiple ad groups since Facebook is going to give the most reach to just one ad versus several.

Target Audience. Find your target audience and tailor your ad to them. Facebook is home to almost 1.5 billion users, but not all of those users are your target demographic. It is important to hone in on who you want your ad placed in front of. Not only should you be targeting them in the setup of your ad campaign, but also in the context of it. Make sure your photos, videos, text, and message are all appropriate for who you are trying to reach.

Keep in mind the difference between targeting existing or potential consumers during this process. You can utilize an existing email list to grow current consumer loyalty or Facebook Pixel to measure, optimize, and build new audiences for your campaign. Aim for a range of people but remember, if the ad is too broad your money is going to waste.

Analyze the Analytics. As it goes for any social media post, you want to check the stats. Facebook ads update each day to help keep track of important information. It provides the reach, click (if a link is provided), profile visits, comments, views, and more. The numbers don’t lie and will provide you with clarity on how well your ad did. Use these numbers to figure out what works and what could be improved for future reference.

Have Fun With It. At the end of the day, always remember to have fun with the content that you’re creating. Keep it consistent with your brand image while also giving it some personality. There are many ways to create an ad from interactive videos to intricate graphic designs. Always choose what works best realistically for you so research, research, research. Once you follow these tips and feel confident in your message it’s time to execute the Facebook Ad.

Facebook is also helpful enough to provide tutorials, tools, and resources to further explain any problems or concerns you stumble upon. If you find these tips helpful, let us know which worked best for you and spread the word to help another female entrepreneur out. We’re only as strong as we allow our community to be!
